Writing for Designer

TASK 4: Design Word ( 20 design vocabulary and meanings )
  1. Font Family : also known as typeface is a set of one or more fonts each composed of glyph that share common design features. Each fonts has a specific weight, style, condensation, slant, italicization, ornamentation, and designer or foundry.
  2. Texture : Texture in art has two type. The first type is physical texture or actual texture are actual variation upon a surface such as rough surface or smooth surface. The second type of texture is the illusion of having physical texture. Every material and very support surface has its own visual texture and need to be taken into consideration before creating a composition.
  3. Sketches : is a rapidly executed hand drawing that is not usually intended as a finished work. A sketch may serve a number of purpose such as it might record something that the artist see or it might for record or to develop an idea.
  4. Color : is a visual perceptual property corresponding in human categories called red, blue, green or yellow. Colors deprives from the spectrum of light interacting in eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors.
  5. Photo manipulations : also called photoshopping is the application of image editing techniques to photograph in order to create an illusion or deception after the original photographing took place.
  6. Dark : is the polar opposite to bright, is understood to be an absence of visible light. It is also  the appearance of black in colored space.
  7. Legible : also known as penmanship is a techniques of writing with the hand using a writing instrument. The various generic formal historical styles of writing instrument are called hands, whilst an individual's style referred to as handwriting. 
  8. Perspective : in context of vision or visual perception, is the way in which object appeared to the eye based on their spatial attributes.
  9. Printing : is a process for reproducing text and image, typically with ink on paper using printing press. It is often carried out as a large-scale industrial process, and is an essential part of publishing and transaction printing.
  10. Bold : is a font style used to emphasis the size and text to make the word stand out for the audience.
  11. Thumbnail : are reduced size versions of pictures, used to help recognizing or organizing them, serving the same role for images as a normal text index does for word.
  12. Brainstorm : refers to brainstorming, a group or individual creativity exercise.
  13. Story board : are graphic organizers in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequences for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, or motion graphic sequences.
  14. Body copy : is the main articles or text that writes are responsible for is contrasted with display copy.
  15. Concept : is fundamental category of existence. That divided into three : as mental representation, abilities, and abstract object.
  16. Margin : is an area between the main content of page and the page edges. The margin helps to define where a line text begins and end.
  17. Hexagon : is polygon with six edges and six vertices. A regular hexagon has Schlafli symbol (6).
  18. Length : is the longest dimension of an object. in other context, length is a measured dimension of an object.
  19. Light : is the opposite of dark. The visible light is electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye and is responsible for the sense of sight.
  20. Polygon : is a traditionally a plane figure that is bounded by finite chain of straight line segment closing in loop to form a closed chain or circuit. Those segment are called edges or sides.
